The “Baby Blues” affects an average of 70% of mothers and generally resolves itself within 4 weeks after childbirth. Postpartum Stress Syndrome or Adjustment Disorder may take effect subsequently, leaving mom to feel irritable, guilty, extremely stressed, or even like an unfit mother or wife. This is the optimal time to seek professional support, in an effort to help prevent a postpartum mood disorder. Postpartum Depression affects approximately 15% of mothers.
