Birth Matters holds free monthly gatherings at First Christian Church at 3109 Rivermont Avenue, near Virginia Baptist Hospital. The meetings are on the third Tuesday of every month from 7-9 pm. Anyone is welcome to come and learn about a variety of topics including pregnancy, types of practitioners, labor, local resources, doulas, breastfeeding, postpartum and comfort measures for pregnancy and birth.

April 15: Join us for a discussion on Labor Support, led by Jennifer Monroe, labor and postpartum doula. Learn helpful techniques for managing the exertion of labor as well as ways to lessen discomfort. A great opportunity for partners to attend and learn how to lend support during childbirth. Refreshments will be provided.
May 20: Dr. Robertson of Forest Women's Center will speak on evidence based care in Obstetrics.
June 17: Herbalist Teri Hubbard will share her knowledge about the safe use of herbs and how they are useful in pregnancy and parenting.
July 15: Video: The Business of Being Born, Ricki lake's documentary on birth in America today.
August 19: Open forum birth circle- join us to talk, share, and ask questions
September 16: Viewing and discussion of Ricki Lake's movie, "The Business of Being Born"
October 21: What is hypnobirthing?
November 18: Nutrition and Herbs for the Expectant Mother
December: No meeting; Happy Holidays!
