I am a labor support doula and private childbirth educator, as well as a founding member of BMV. I believe birth is a non-medical event that does best when women are encouraged to listen to their bodies with few, if any, interventions.

We believe that if we increase access to nurse-midwifery education, we increase access to nurse-midwifery care in Virginia.  The Midwifery Initiative allows students to access our program through four universities in Virginia:  Radford, ODU, JMU, and Shenandoah University.  Our program is flexible and accredited by the American College of Nurse-Midwives Accreditation Commission of Midwifery Education.  Follow the path of your heart - let us show you how to begin your journey as a midwife.
