Join Birth Matters
VA now to add your voice to a united consumer
response to this issue. It is clear that it is the families
who need to provide education to agencies and the organizations
which consider it their job to promote safety for women and
babies. We need to make sure that they understand how
much we value the safe and competent care that midwives provide
at home births. Birth Matters members can unite to be
a significant influence in getting groups to sit down and listen
to each other to promote optimal care for everyone.
You can also check the VABirthPAC www.vabirthpac.org and
join the growing database of families who want to make their voice
heard in the legislative arena. It is important to recognize
that our citizen voice was heard in the General Assembly in 2005
for certified professional midwives and in 2006 for certified nurse
midwives. To learn more about the legislative history of
midwifery visit the VA
Birth PAC website.
We will keep our members updated with information
about key letter writing opportunities and meetings requiring public
comment. Let’s fight together for access to evidence-based
care and mother-friendly providers!
