Virginia by promoting an evidence-based model of maternity care
and supporting care providers who practice mother friendly care.
Who We Are
We are a statewide organization with local groups of parents
and professionals who share information, offer support, and affirm
the rights of women and families to make informed choices throughout
the childbearing years. We are a 501c3 non-profit organization.
We have no religious or political affiliation.
Our Vision
We envision pregnant women embraced by their communities,
encouraged to trust the journey, discovering their strength and
the transformational power of birth.
What We Do
We educate our communities through birth
circles and classes,
video viewings, library displays, guest speakers.
We provide support with online yahoo group (for members), website,
and resources to help women and their families.
We network with the birthing community by supporting caregivers
who provide evidence-based care, distributing a statewide newsletter,
holding events that bring people together to discuss birth.

Testimonials
"We feel so fortunate to have been guided to Birth Matters. The meetings
are informative and empowering--through experienced practitioners, evidence-based
discussion, and the friendships cultivated there, we learned so much about
pregnancy, birth, and babies. The people we met through the group literally changed
our lives. Armed with the facts and lots of questions, we sought and found an
amazing and beautiful birth! In an area where fear, control, and over-medicalization
tend to be the norm, Birth Matters offers a voice of reason, calm, and confidence." -
Debbie & Tim Kasper "The meeting was wonderful and informed me
on lots of issues I didn't know."- Christy Holder
"I wish there were birth matters seminars
when I was pregnant with my first child. I urge all women & parents
to go!" - Beth |
