About Us
Our Main focuses as a group are to promote evidence based care and provide women with the resources to make choices about their own birth experiences. We began our Birth Circle meetings in Waynesboro in April 2009 and have met the first Tuesday of every month ever since.

Our meeting attendees have ranged in number from 4 to 13. We welcome all ladies to share their stories and invite others, no matter their background. We usually have 2-3 birth stories in our 1.5 hr. meeting and try to allow the meetings to facilitate themselves and prefer to see it as an open time of “girl talk,” with the overall goal to spread the word that a woman can be an active participant in, and enjoy her birth experience.

Local Director: Jennifer McManus is a stay-at-home mom to her two boys, Ashton, age 7 and Quinn, age 3. Both boys were born naturally. In 2006, Jenny received her certification to teach childbirth education from the AAHCC.  She has recently affiliated to teach the new evidence-based Brio Birth classes . Jenny attends local La Leche League meetings as her schedule allows. She enjoys meeting with other childbirth professionals and looks forward to being more involved as a member of the birthing community.

Co-Leader: Danielle Miller has been working alongside of Jenny since last April with her main responsibilities including community-wide educational events such as movie nights and guest speakers. Danielle has two girls, Ivy-Anne, age 4 and Willow, age 2 . Ivy-Anne was a cesarean birth at AMC and Willow was naturally born VBAC at home. Danielle completed the Bradley Method (R) childbirth education in 2007 in preparation for Willow's birth. Danielle is in training to be a Birthing From Within certified Doula and Mentor. She completed a BFW workshop in May and is attending births at this time.

Both women are avid supporters of attachment parenting, breastfeeding and cloth diapering!
